Migration: Monarch butterflies are famous for their remarkable migration journey. Every fall, millions of Monarchs from Canada and the United States migrate thousands of miles to overwintering sites in central Mexico, where they form dense clusters in oyamel fir forests.

Coloration: Monarch butterflies are known for their striking orange wings with black veins and borders, adorned with white spots along the edges. This vibrant coloration serves as a warning signal to predators, as Monarchs are distasteful to many animals due to the toxins they acquire from feeding on milkweed plants during their larval stage.

Life Cycle: Like all butterflies, Monarchs undergo complete metamorphosis, transitioning through four life stages: egg, larva (caterpillar), pupa (chrysalis), and adult butterfly. The entire life cycle typically takes about 4-5 weeks to complete.
